This has been in process for way too long. I finished it this weekend and plan to wear it today! It is a little on the crazy side but, I have never been one to wear plain things. I love things that are different and have some whimzy to them. We will see what the reviews are today. I have some more fun pieces in the works so stay tuned!

Soft and warm with some bling

I have another scarf done. I wanted to make a pin or something to hold it together. I went back to my ol favorite, yes a rose. I am still stuck on the roses...well they just seem to make me happy! So the rose is what I settled on to give this scarf a little more statement. I also knitted with two yarns again, can't seem to use just one! I would love to know what you think!!

17 year ago I married my soul mate. We have been together for 27 years total and have two great kids. Blake is 16 and Makayla is 15 and they are both great kids. There have been some bumps in the road here and there but nothing serious. We didn't have a big wedding, just went with family to the court house and was married by a judge and out to dinner. We had a cake and punch at my brother and sister-in-laws house. It was good enough for me, I never wanted a big wedding. The picture is several months before we were married. This will get a chuckle out of some of my friends!

New Old table for the studio

I got a new old table for my studio. Yes it is an old enamel top table. Hubby is going to fix it so it sits a litter higher. I am playing around with were it is going to sit. I must get this studio in order! If I don't get some creating done I think I am going to have a melt down. Must create........must create.... Wish me luck I get my studio in order!!

Practice what you Preach

Yes this is my motto for my studio. I am spending my day cleaning and organizing my studio once again. How many of us have told our kids"pick up your toys and put them away" I am always telling mine "If you put it up you will know where it is!" Boy do I need to practice what I preach. I have to take the time to clean up and put away my toys in my studio after I am done playing! I found paint brushes all nasty. Thanks to Pinterest, they are soaking in warm vinegar and looking like new again. I have to make room for my new serger, I must have some play time today!! So my new motto will be to put my toys away after I am done playing!!

Happy New Year! Reflecting on 2011

As another year comes to an end, I reflect on everything that has happened. The first part of the year I was still stuck in a rut. I felt like I had no energy and no direction. I knew I had to find some different work and take control again. I did just that, I have a job I love and work with some very wonderful people. I started running everyday and feel like a million bucks! I am so much happier with myself and life in general. With a new year there are always resolutions and things you want to achieve. Here are my plans:

1. Be more organized and declutter.
2. Take my art to a new level.
3. Have a very strong body and continue to run!

I don't think this list is too hard to keep. I have to stay focused!

This is my new scarf I finished. I used two different yarns and decided to weave some leopard print fabric through it. I always like to try something different. I love to experiment with something a little out of the box. If it does not turn out...start over with something else. It never hurts to try something different!!

The art show ended with a big smooch! I got a smooch from my BFF Linda. There was a lot of neat things and wonderful people at the show. I love seeing everyone again and looking at all the eye candy. The wearables were to dye for! Sales were a bit down for me this year, you never know what people will want. My wool hooked flowers went well sold them all but one. So now to get ready for the next show the fist of December. Ah!

We decided to have some fun and make a Halloween supper! I carved a pumpkin......the old fashion way, a knife, no stencils and my imagination. I made a dip that looked like a spider web, mummy hot dogs and Makayla make a cake. She added candy corn M&M's for the face. If was good and everyone enjoyed the fun food! Happy Halloween Eve!!

I opened my kiln this morning and it is just like Christmas. You never know exactly what you are going to get. I love how the black ones turned out. It is hard to see all the magic in the white ones, I used some clear designs in the middle and it it hard to see in the picture. I might do some more yet for the show. I am on a roll! Enjoy

Asking all my wonderful friends out there to say a prayer for my niece. Erin wants a baby so bad and has not been able to have one. She is willing to adopt, foster adopt to get a baby to love. We don't care what color or race she just wants a child to love. She would make a perfect mother because she is so caring and sweet. I wish I could have one for her...but I am too old now to have any more. My first wool hooking project

Weekend of Camping

We took off for camping for the weekend. It was very hot to start, but we had the perfect spot. Saturday ended up getting up to 100. By noon we were in the camper in the air cause it was getting pretty hot! Sunday was much cooler and very nice day. We went to our favorite spot the falls. We have been there a bunch of times and it still is such an amazing place. The falls are breath taking and very relaxing. I hope you enjoy.

Well this shirt has been giving me fits! The sunflowers are starting to get stitched on but I broke a needle then ran out of bobbin thread. So I think I am going to give it up for tonight. Well I have been working on this shirt most of the day> It is very big and flowing. Not what I have visioned in my mind. I planned on a deeper blue. I dyed it in midnight blue but it looked more purple. so I squirted a liquid dye on it and let it go. It is not complete yet I am adding sunflowers across the bottom. I hope to have it finished later this week .

Went camping for the weekend. It was hot a humid! Went into Rockville my favorite town. They are stocking up for the Covered Bridge Festival that is in October. The stores will be packed with people from all over. I went to my favorite antique store, in the back they have a section for rug hooking. They have tons of beautiful wool. They have some kits and a table you can sit down at and practive hooking. They had a bin with these bundles for $10.00 bucks, I grabed two and plan to have some fun. I have some fun pieces planed with this wool!

Where Bloggers Create

Well it is party time and here is my post for Where Bloggers Create. I do live in the country in a old farm house, over 100 year old. We have remodeled and built on to it several times. My space had never had any kind of theme or real organization about it. I just had a place to work and after mass creating it would turn into a mess. Most of the time I could not find things I needed. I do many different kinds of art so I needed several places to do different things. I have made many attempts at getting a space that was organized and made me feel good working in it. I tried many different plastic storage containers, just didn't do it for me. No offense to those of you who use them. They just were not what I wanted. I wanted a place that was primitive, shabby and vintage in decor. I needed a space that made me happy. My niece came over and said "you need to display your work in here" this is my space. The only thing is I don't keep a lot of my work. I did display a few dolls I have and thought I should display some of my beading. I wear my necklaces all the time but I thought I would display some of them, I have to many to put them all up. I am thinking about a small tree that I could put up more of my jewelry. This is still in thought process. I am not completely finished but, close. I painted the floor, desk(not finished), cabinets and the tables. I still want to make some rosettes for my table. I am also finishing some art for the walls. Makayla's Doll

This is Makayla's 4H doll that she turned in today. I think she did a wonderful job and should have gotten Champion. She got a blue star but she is pretty down. It would be ok if what was picked was a good piece of art but, she said what got champion was a blue jean pocket with things stuffed in it! Well why wouldn't she feel bad. She did get champion on misc needle craft. So the day was not all bad. The same judge told Blake she would expect more craftsmanship out of someone his age? REALLY! What nerve, His piece was made in his art class taught by a true artist. I think we need to get rid of these old farm lady judges and get some people who appreciate art!

My Deal of the Week

I have been visiting resale shops a lot this last week. I love to find a treasure or just look at all the cool things. I saw these dishes last week for $12.00 for 46 pieces. I love the little pink roses and thought they were so charming. I talked myself out of them. I went back yesterday and they were marked down to $7.00. I said this was meant to be so I loaded them up and they came home with me. So this is my bargain of the week!

Yes Blake got his drivers permit on Wednesday. He passed his test and is learning to drive. I don't know how well my nerves will hold up but we will get there. I might get a lot more gray hair !! He does pretty well out in the country. I let him drive a short way in town today, he made me a bit worried. I think he does better with his dad, he and I are too much a like. He says I yell at him too much. We didn't do drivers ed......too pricy for me it is between 400.00 and 500.00 dollars! It is crazy, so we will teach him and hope for the best.

I am so excited my necklace sold at the art show! This is the first time I have sold anything at the Tippecanoe Arts Federation before. I did something way different for me and it sold. I am in the process of making another piece much like this for my mother. I figured I would keep this one for me but, I am glad it sold. So I need to get busy and maybe make some more! I had a cashier go crazy over the necklace I had on today. Maybe this is a sign I need to get busy and make some jewelry.

WIP for Botanical Art Show

I have put off my piece for the Art Show once again. I never seem to be able to have things done before the dead line. Purdue's Spring Fling.... Bug Bowl

We spent most of the day Saturday at Purdue's Large Animal Hospital. Both Blake and Makayla are in Vet Science for4H. We meet at the Large Animal Hospital for Pizza, we tried to get in to the Horse treadmill demo but it was full. The horse treadmill it supposed to be one of the best in the country. We walked around and got some goodies. We got free bags and Makayla and I got matching T Shirts. We thought these were way cool! They had several labs up for adoption. The students that are graduating put their labs up for adoption. We fell in love with a 7 year old black lab, she was such a sweetie! We thought Rosco needed a girlfriend! LOL. The girl who was graduating talked to Makayla ( she wants to be a vet so bad!) She told her not to give up if she is not accepted right away. This girl was 30 and was old compared to others graduating. She had been rejected and got her vet tech first. This gave Makayla hope. It is had to get into Purdue's vet school but I think Makayla is very determined!

What I did on Spring Break........Prim room makeover

I have my room pretty much finished. I still want to add a few finishing touches, but the big part of it is done. This started out to be a one day deal painting and reorganizing, but it turned into the whole week. The first color of paint , I hated. Got this mustard gold color and it is very soothing. I painted the computer desk and now need to paint the file cabinet. Found an old sewing table and turned it into a tv-xbox station. Made my curtains, painted the shelf that I got at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon. I also made my own mouse pad. I spent way too much money so made a prim mouse pad for now.So that is my new room on a budget. Enjoy!

I bought myself the Zumba for Wii today. I love it!! What a fun way to get some exercise. Lot of moves to get down but it was fun trying to learn them all. I only made through one rock and roll routine and trying to learn all the moves. I love to dance and decided this would be a fun way to try to get back into shape. I don't know if I will look like the girl on the box but I am going to try!! LOL

Daylight Savings Time...

Daylight Saving Time gives us the opportunity to enjoy sunny summer evenings by moving our clocks an hour forward in the spring.

Yet, the implementation of Daylight Saving Time has been fraught with controversy since Benjamin Franklin conceived of the idea. Even today, regions and countries routinely change their approaches to Daylight Saving Time.

I ask why did we have to start doing this again? For years we didn't change our time. A few year ago our wonderful Governor (cough cough) changed this. I am a creature of habit when it comes to sleep. I don't set an alarm I just wake up at about 5:00 am. Do you know what this does to me? I am a mess for weeks, tired and not hungry when it is my lunch time. Yes I woke up at 6:00 this morning, won't work tomorrow. When we change back I will be waking up at 4:00.
As for my children, Blake gets on the bus at 6:20. It is pitch black out. It was getting light when Makayla got on at 7:00. Now it will be pitch black out when she gets on the bus. All the high school kids will be driving and getting on buses when it is black out. A couple of the middle schools will also be getting on buses when it is black out. Dangerous ! Yes just so we can have more light in the evening. Kids will be staying up later and not functioning in school.
Does this save any real utility cost? Facts show it doesn't. My thoughts are if it is not broke don't fix it!!

Yes we won ! Now we play champion game on Wednesday evening! Way to go girls. It was awesome, I was so excited I could not get any real good pictures. Makayla sunk a 3 pointer right at the half time buzzer! It was sweet. My hands were so red and swollen by the end of the game. I sprayed the girls hair blue, they loved it. I did get a good picture of Makayla and Keanna guarding the basket. The other is Makayla driving the ball to the basket. You girls rock and Good Luck Wednesday!

Sassy and her bee

Birthday gift for my Mother

This wrap is a Birthday present for my sweet Mother. Her Birthday is Sunday and she will be 89, no dull boring things for her. I used two different yarns and my big needles. Some Black and Gold for a Purdue fan! I just need to create some sort of pin or flower to set it over the top. I think she will look so cute in the one!

Yes, I am still knitting and made this scarf from my fun yarn I purchased a short time ago. I love the colors in this yarn and used my big needles. I am practicing with them for my over the top piece that I hope to start this weekend. I hope it turns out like the vision I have in my head. It is getting kind of crowded in my Artistic memory bank and need to get some things out of my head and made. As it has been quite spring like this week, my bead table and my sewing machine are beckoning me to come play! Have a wonderful weekend!

Yes another scarf! I feel like a knitting factory. LOL! I just might be able to do this in my sleep now. I find it relaxing and easy to do sitting in front of the fire trying to forget about the snow. This scarf has turned into more of a cowl. I did my own thing with this, yes I always break the rules! I used two different yarns and one has gold sequins in it. I thought maybe some fringe but nothing was working for me. For now I am leaving it as is, I might figure out what it needs. Yes I am still knitting. I have finished yet another scarf. I wasn't sure I liked the yellow ribbon, now it is finished I think it works. I wanted a yellow silk ribbon but of course I didn't have enough nor could I find any more. So I used two different ribbons. Sorry the orange walls make it look more orange then it is. Look what the mailman brought me !

Yesterday much to our surprise the mailman brought me this! Yes the mailman made it through the winter storm to our house. I am sure he didn't travel all the way down the road. We had a snow plow stuck just half a mile down from us. I got this lush yarn I ordered. O I love this stuff and can't wait to make something cool with this! I am getting a bit stir crazy and want to go to town. Stay warm!

With a lot of snow and time off, what is a girl to do? Create of course! I am not getting as much done as I should but I am working on things. I was getting a little bored with a couple of scarves I have been working on. My niece saw this one in the works and fell in love with it. I got it finished and yes she is getting another scarf for her birthday! I have some fun ones in the works so stay tuned! I also have some dollies in the works and I just might get some beading done! This squirrel was just a hoot yesterday! Roso was trying to get as close to the window as he could. I looked and didn't see anything. Back in the tree eating another walnut was this cute critter. He came down and started digging in the snow. It was sleeting pretty good so that is why the pictures are so blurry, plus I was laughing. He was on a mission for more nuts! The funny thing was just under our gas tank were quite a few, he would not had to work so hard to get them! Enjoy

We just got a picture of this fat squirrel outside in the freezing rain. He is eating a walnut in our walnut tree. The freezing rain did not seem to bother him at all. He must have a pretty good stash of walnuts he has been eating by how big he is. Hubby said I should send it in for a weather picture I hope you are staying safe and warm! .Enjoy

Funky Scarf

I have finished another one! This is out of one of my fun yarns from a previous post. Was not too fond of the needles, they were pretty slick and make it hard to keep even stitches. I will keep practicing with them. I have a couple of others started...don't know how long this knitting fetish will last but at least I am getting something made and having fun! Staying warm also!!

Fireplace Finished!

The fireplace makeover is finished ! Just need to get a cover on the outlet and my decorations on the mantel and this room will be back in order. I was taking the first picture when hubby pulled up with an insert. He got the insert in and we have a nice roaring fire. There is a blower on in insert and it makes the room warm and cozy but, It is not heating much but the room it is in. He hoped this would heat more of the house then just the one room. He is going to have to do some tweaking and maybe this will heat more. Rosco likes laying in front of the fire also!

I need help!

O my! I think I need help. I seem to be very addicted to fiber right now. Maybe because it is so cold and colorless out right now. I long for lush texture and bright vibrant color. I paid a visit to a yarn shop down town and I should stay out of there. I think I could buy one of everything! I have also been buying some different size knitting needles. I can't wait to make something with this cool yarn and new needles. I have two knitting projects started right now! I don't know when this addiction might pass, maybe when it warms up or my beads or dolls start calling for me to create with them?
There is a fiber fest in March that I am planning on attending. Who knows what I might bring home from that....maybe a fiber producing animal! Stay warm!

Knitting Again!

I can't stop knitting! I made another wrap for a gift. I could not find the colors in one yarn so I used two different yarns together. While making it my daughter loved the colors and ask me to make her a scarf. So I got them both finished today. I have a doll I need to do a little work on and hope to get finished and listed soon. I might even make a scarf to put in my shop. Enjoy

Just like crystals!

I woke up this morning to this beautiful crystal looking wonderland. Mother nature does some amazing work at times. I am getting a little sick of winter but this is hoar frost is just breath taking. I love the sparkle of crystals and this makes me feel like I am living in a crystal wonderland. Some of my pictures a not the clearest, if I would read the directions to my camera I might be a better photographer! LOL!

This is my new craze I would love to add these wonderful animals to our family so I can make some of my own wonderful yarn. The funker the better....I love fiber that is multi textured like this and is my new dream!

Stepping out of my confort zone

I am so excited, I taught myself something new in knitting! I am not any kind of expert when it comes to knitting. I make simple things with using the knit stitch. One of my goals was to learn to read a pattern this year. I was looking a some way cool scarves and wondered "How did they do that ?" " What kind of stitch is that?" After searching and searching I discovered it was a drop stitch. I did not give up and found a pattern. Since I don't understand patterns real well I could not quite grasp what the were trying to say to do. I searched more and found a video showing how to do it! Bingo! I can do this. Went to my yarn stash and found some half used skeins of yarn and I was off on a new adventure! I tried it with two yarns, just because I like to think outside of the box. I wished I would have had a bit more yarn to make it longer, I was just experimenting. I love the out come I will be making some more of these. I will also be learning and trying some new stitches. I am so in love with fiber right now......I can't get enough of it. This is also turning wheels for what I hope is a new adventure soon to come. Stay tuned Enjoy

Hubby's Artwork!

The fireplace came together pretty quick this weekend. Hubby worked very hard this weekend to get most of it done. He still needs to finish the hearth and we hope to find an old barn beam for the mantel. I have

mopped the floor several times and still have motor dust on it. It will take me forever to get everything cleaned up. It is worth it in the long run I have a much bigger and better looking fireplace. Hopefull I will post one more picture of the finished product. I am lucky he does this for a living and it doesn't cost me anything!

Just Knitting

With it being so cold I have been in the mood to knit. It gets so I dislike the cold more and more. I made the scarf for myself. It was started last year and did not finished. One of my words for the new year is to follow through. I am going to try to stop starting things and not finishing them. So I went back and finished the scarf. The second is Makayla modeling my sisters neck warmer. Some of the looks that girl gets on her face! I am working on another wrap now for my niece. I hope to get it done very quick. Her Birthday is in February and would love to give it to her early. I have big plans to be creative this weekend, I hope I can accomplish it!

Last day of break and a little knitting

Well today is the last day of break, tomorrow is back to school/work. I don't think we are ready to go back. We went out to eat and did a little shopping for our last day off. It is a long time until Spring Break!
I have been doing some knitting, no I am not an expert by any means. I mostly make scarves and wraps, simple things. I got the notion to make my mom a wrap for Christmas. I made her a different style several years ago. She loves it and wears it to church a lot and get lots of compliments. Here is the one I made this year. She came over today to pick it up, I had to add the fringe and make the polymer button. So here is my 88 year old mother modeling her wrap. Doesn't she look cute? I keep her in jewlery and styling things to wear. She is a peach! One of my goals this year is to learn to read a knitting pattern and make something a little more complex. Enjoy
